Upcoming Workshops
August 23, 2025, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Manor Mill Gallery in Monkton, MD, "Embracing Transparency" watercolor workshop!
One of the hardworking tools in a watercolorist’s toolbox is applying and then lifting wet paint off the paper to create a beautiful transparency effect. In this workshop, we’ll brush paint into flower petals and leaves and then gently mop up the paint to reveal amazing sheer pastels. . Lifting off the wet paint allows the pure white of the watercolor paper to lighten the pigment and give dimension to your painting. We’ll embellish the details of our paintings with black waterproof ink. All materials provided, including 11 x 14 mats so your painting is ready to frame.
This workshop is sold out.

"Paint Mix-Up!" Watercolor and Acrylic Workshop
The properties of acrylic and watercolor mean that, like oil and water, they don’t mix. But that’s what makes this painting workshop so interesting. The transparency of watercolor means we frequently work from background to foreground, but in this workshop, we’ll first paint a beautiful foreground tree with all its details using matte acrylics. Because the base of acrylic is a polymer, we can then paint over our tree with watercolor to create our background. Mats will be provided to render our mixed media painting ready for framing. All materials provided.

An essential skill in the watercolorist’s toolbox is the ability to utilize the mop brush to manage large areas of wet-in-wet paint and create the soft flowing edges that are trademark watercolor features. We will discover how mop brushes can soften the edges to blend a beautiful field of flowers on large cold-pressed paper. Come loosen your wrist with a brush and glass of wine! All materials provided, including the wine!
