Painting Stones:
We see rocks and stones on a casual basis almost every day. When we stop and look closely, however, they offer a wealth of beautiful colors and textures. In this workshop, we’ll paint a beautiful rock cairn with liquid watercolor ink. Rock cairns (from the Scottish Gaelic word carn or “heap of stones”) have historically been used for navigational aids as well as symbols of spiritual, artistic, or commemorative significance. We’ll create various textures and grains on our watercolor rocks using plastic wrap, sprayed alcohol, and sprinkled salt. We’ll add shading for dimension and final details with waterproof ink. All materials included.

Sunday, June 7, 2026, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Manor Mill Gallery, Monkton, MD
In this workshop we’ll use a fun loose watercolor technique to create a beautiful shoreline where the tree grove meets the coast under a colorful sunset. We’ll use perspective to give our painting realism and visual interest, use a scratch tool technique to create details, and splatter opaque Bleed Proof to replicate seafoam. All materials are included. Mats will be provided so your painting is ready to frame. Bring your morning coffee or tea and let’s paint together!

Current Exhibition:
Almost 40 of Kas Rohm's original watercolors and graphites are on display at Towson Unitarian Universal Church at 1710 Dulaney Valley Road through June 1, 2026. The Church's light-filled Unicorn Gallery supports the works of local artists in various media by creating a beautiful exhibition venue on a two-month rotating schedule throughout the year. All paintings are for sale at the venue.
Several of my watercolors are on display through the middle of January 2026 at the Baltimore County Courthouse in the heart of Towson. I am joined in this exhibit by several members of the Towson Arts Collective Gallery.
I am excited to be one of a few selected artists to display original pieces for sale at the Roggenart Cafe in Towson, Maryland. It's a beautiful setting for the paintings and I am grateful to Roggenart for sponsoring this exhibition by local artists.
